A new prize will be awarded for the best sociology senior thesis in
the fields of migration and development. This will be a
departmental prize. While theses submitted for the CMD Prize will
be considered independently by a separate committee, they must also
meet the standards of the Brown Prize, namely to receive a grade of
A from both readers, and be nominated for both prizes. The
CMD Prize will recognize originality and sophistication in research
design, data collection, analysis, and theory.
The prizewinning thesis will be published online in
the Center's working
paper series, and the author will receive a $300 award
and certificate recognizing his/her achievement. The award will be
delivered by the Director of the Center for Migration and
Development during the Sociology Class Day ceremony and reception.
