The CMD welcomes Professor Edward Telles, who joined the Princeton Sociology Department in Fall 2008 as a new Center Faculty Affiliate. Telles has achieved wide recognition for his study of race relations in Brazil and more recently for his longitudinal analysis of Mexican-American patterns of educational and occupational mobility across generations.

The Center also welcomes Ana Maria Goldani, a Brazilian demographer and lecturer in Princeton's Department of Sociology, as Faculty Affiliate. With her husband, Professor Edward Telles, Ana Maria sponsored a visit and lecture by the distinguished Brazilian urban researchers Licia Valladares and Edmond Pretecielle on January 15, 2009. This was the opening event in the Center's calendar of activities for the year.
